Biography

Aarón Ribas was born in Barcelona in 1992. He began his music studies with his father, Ignacio Ribas. He studied the Bachelor’s Degree at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMuC) with Oscar Candendo. In 2019 he finished his master's studies at the Stuttgart Musikhochschule with Jürgen Essl. He has also received other advices from professors such as Juan de la Rubia, Raúl Prieto, Michael Radulescu, Montserrat Torrent, Constantin Volostnov or Ulrich Walther.

In 2013 he won the first prize in the organ competition in commemoration of Joseph Gabler, held in Ochsenhausen (Germany) and the first prize unanimously by the jury in the 82nd edition of the Permanent Competition of Jeunesses Musicales in Spain. In this contest he also won a special award from the EMCY (European Union of Competitions for Youth) for a European tour. In 2017 he was a finalist in the Cicle del Primer Palau organized by the Palau de la Música Catalana. In 2020 he won the second prize at the II concurso nacional de órgano Francisco Salinas - VIII Centenario de la Catedral de Burgos.

For the 2016-2017 season he was selected by AIE (Asociación de Artistas y Ejecutantes) for its Clásicos en Ruta cycle. Recently, he has undertaken a tour organized by the cultural office of the Spanish Embassy in the USA as part of their Spanish Young Music Talents (SYMT) program. During this tour, he has performed as a soloist with the orchestra of the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim School of Music & Performing Arts at Florida International University (FIU) and at the Washington D.C. cathedral.

As a solo organist he regularly offers concerts at major festivals and cathedrals in Europe, such as in Spain, Andorra, France, Germany, Lithuania or Italy. He has played as a soloist and collaborated occasionally with the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra, the Filarmonía Orchestra, the Community of Madrid Orchestra, the Spanish Radio Television Orchestra, the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra, the Gran Canaria Symphonic Orchestra , the Filarmony of Spain and the choir of the University of the Community of Madrid choir, specially in the National Auditorium in Madrid

Aarón Ribas is a performer committed to contemporary organ music. He has premiered several works by the composer Marc Migó (Barcelona 1993), such as Toccata Ibérica (2016) and the Scherzo des Rusalkas (2017). In September 2021, the Toccata Ibèrica was awarded at the OrganTaurida international competition for organ composition, held in Saint Petersburg.

Due to his knowledge of organ building, he has advised several projects such as the new organ of the parish of St. Rita in Madrid and he take care and maintenance of some organ pipes such as the organ curator of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando. He is currently the organist in the parishes of Immaculate Heart of Mary and St. Rita in Madrid.
